How to deep clean your gas stove

Your gas stove looks all shiny and beautiful when you see it in the showroom and lay your eyes on it. Once you bring it home, you are in awe of its looks. However, a few weeks into using it, the effects of your cooking start showing. The spills and the occasional splatters while cooking would necessitate a deep clean of your gas stove. How to deep clean your gas stove

Before you start the deep cleaning of your gas stove, let us have the prerequisites ready. You will need a soft cleaning cloth / Sponge. Dish soap, Kitchen towel and of course scrubs brush to remove those adamant dirt. Dampen the soft cleaning cloth or sponge with dish soap and gently wipe the surface of the stove. Make sure that you do not let water dripping from the sponge get into the pores of the burner. For those stubborn dirt you can use the scrubber gently and remove them. If you have to wet the stove to get the dirt moist before scrubbing it off, it would be a good idea to remove the burner before stating the cleaning process.

Alternatively, you can use the following methods to deep clean your gas stove:-

Using Vinegar

This is a simple yet effective method to keep your gas stovetops clean. Sprinkle vinegar on the burners and let it be there for 10 to 15 minutes and clean it with soft clean cloth. This makes your gas stovetop shinier. Make sure you do this daily for better results because once the dirt is set on the surface it is difficult to clean with vinegar.

Using Baking Soda

Baking soda is effective if the grease is harder to remove. First use some detergent and warm water to remove the outer dirt. Then mix the baking soda and water to make a thick paste and keep this paste for 20 minutes on the burners. Scrub with sponge to remove the soft dirt.

With soap (Dishwashing liquid) and water

This is the most common and easy way to clean the dirt of your gas stove. Use some dish wash, scrub and sponge to clean the stovetop after removing the burners and knobs (if possible). Use a little drop of dishwashing liquid on sponge and wipe out the dirt. Once you are satisfied that the surface is clean wipe using sponge until the soap residue is gone. Use a clean and soft cloth to clean the surface for the last time.

Ammonia method

This is mainly for the grates of the stove. You have to put the grates separately in a plastic bag and add one fourth cup of ammonia (undiluted). Keep the bag closed overnight and take out the grates to wipe clean it. The fumes will dissolve the hardened dirt from those grates and iron will not be affected. Just a suggestion: Keep this bag outside incase the ammonia smell is leaked it will a discomfort.
